چکیده
Çaml?bel Tarlas? is a short-lived, mid 4th millennium BCE Chalcolithic archaeological site in northern central Anatolia, modern Turkey, with evidence for both intensive metallurgy and permanent occupation. Analysis of wood charcoal assemblage from the site, totaling 2815 fragments, first this period region. Anthracological analysis indicates that primary fuel used was deciduous oak, which comprised nearly 90% identifiable fragments. We find little differences species different functions or over time; however, significant trend towards increased use large-diameter branch trunk time noted oak other minor taxa. reconstruct dense oak-dominated woodland vicinity at use, forest clearance time, due to either diminished availability agricultural expansion, combination two. An intensification metallurgical activity later periods occupation may have demand specifically wood.

Chronic mercury exposure in Late Neolithic/Chalcolithic populations in Portugal from the cultural use of cinnabar
Cinnabar is a natural mercury sulfide (HgS) mineral of volcanic or hydrothermal origin that is found worldwide. It has been mined prehistorically and historically in China, Japan, Europe, and the Americas to extract metallic mercury (Hg(0)) for use in metallurgy, as a medicinal, a preservative, and as a red pigment for body paint and ceramics. Processing cinnabar via combustion releases Hg(0) v...

متن کاملChemical evidence for wine production around 4000 BCE in the Late Chalcolithic Near Eastern highlands
Archaeological excavations in the Areni-1 cave complex in southeastern Armenia revealed installations and artifacts dating to around 4000 cal. BCE that are strongly indicative of wine production. Chemical evidence for this hypothesis is presented here using a new method to detect the anthocyanin malvidin that gives grapes and pomegranates their red color. Using solid phase extraction (SPE) and ...
متن کاملEnvironmental Characterization of Ash from the Combustion of Wood and Tires for Beneficial Use in Florida
Non-hazardous industrial solid wastes are frequently proposed for beneficial use rather than being disposed in MSW landfills. An example of such an industrial waste is waste-to-energy (WTE) ash. Proposed beneficial use projects for WTE ash often involve some form of land application. Prior to the land application of any solid waste, the possible risk to human health and the environment should b...
